Long-Term Partnership with Meta
To pursue its vision and bring physical and digital worlds closer together, EssilorLuxottica strengthened its partnership with Meta through a long-term agreement for collaboration over the next decade, with the goal to develop multi-generational smart eyewear products.
The two companies have successfully partnered since 2019, redefining potential for smart eyewear by striking an ideal balance between EssilorLuxottica’s industry know-how plus its global retail and wholesale network reach combined with Meta’s advancements in technology. The result has been two generations of Ray-Ban branded smart glasses that have garnered global excitement and broke barriers for widespread adoption.
Advancing Ray-Ban | Meta Smart Glasses
EssilorLuxottica and Meta advanced their Ray-Ban I Meta glasses with new software features, including video calls and multimodal capabilities using Meta AI, as well as product line updates – such as a new Skyler model inspired by an era of iconic jet-set style and a new Headliner Low Bridge Fit model – and a special limited-edition from Scuderia Ferrari for an unparalleled blend of style, functionality and connectivity.

Other exciting Ray-Ban Meta highlights, such as a transparent Wayfarer limited edition model, lens options with Transitions GEN S and a partnership with Be My Eyes, an access technology provider for people who are blind or have low vision, were also announced in 2024, making it a remarkable year.
Gaining Global Recognition in 2024
In addition, Ray-Ban | Meta won multiple awards this year, as the iF DESIGN AWARD 2024 Gold, the highest recognition, in the category Leisure/Smart eyewear this year in April. The iF Design Awards are widely considered one of the world’s top-three international design contests. Ray-Ban | Meta also won two Gold Pentawards in the ‘Electronic Goods’ and ‘Best Collaboration’ categories for its sustainable packaging, the Silmo d’Or for Ray-Ban | Meta with AI, an IDEA Gold Award and three Red Dot Product Design Awards.
Dedicated Smart Eyewear Lab with Politecnico di Milano
Advancing its smart eyewear journey, in 2022 EssilorLuxottica established its EssilorLuxottica Smart Eyewear Lab, its first-ever joint R&D platform developed in partnership with the Politecnico di Milano. Operating in close synergy with the Group's global R&D and Innovation network, the Lab focuses on developing the next generation of AI glasses integrating hardware –such as electronics, sensors, and processors – alongside algorithms and software featuring advanced signal and data processing, AI and machine learning. The EssilorLuxottica Smart Eyewear Lab’s R&D efforts are organized into three main streams: Camera & Sensors, Eye Tracking, and Optical Integration, engaging over 100 academic researchers and industry scientists.
