Highlights From Myopia Awareness Week 2024

  • Leonardo: To kick off Myopia Awareness Week, a live Leonardo session – entitled “Myopia Management: Way Forward” – was moderated by Olga Prenat, Head of Medical & Professional Affairs at EssilorLuxottica and Global Myopia Awareness Coalition Board Chair, and welcomed experts from global partner organizations, the International Myopia Institute and the World Society of Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus (WSPOS) to discuss moving from myopia correction to myopia management as a standard of care. • Essilor Stellest Lenses with Sun Tints & Extended Range: Essilor Stellest lenses are now available with sun tints, providing children and teenagers with the added benefit of UV protection during outdoor activities. The lenses come in several vibrant colors and give a greater pairing choice when choosing frames. In addition, Essilor Stellest clear spectacle lenses for myopia management will be available in a wider prescription range globally to meet the needs of more myopic children and teenagers.

  • Driving the Global Conversation With Key Partners at ARVO and EAOO: Helping drive the global conversation on myopia, EssilorLuxottica participated in the ARVO (Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology) annual meeting, where EssilorLuxottica’s R&D team presented the latest research and insights on myopia management as well as the five-year clinical study results for Essilor Stellest lenses, which demonstrate continued long-term efficacy for controlling myopia progression.

Along with education sessions from its experts, the Company also showcased its Digital Infinite Refraction range consisting of Vision-R 800, Vision-S 700 and its specialized biometer, the Myopia Expert 700, designed to monitor myopia progression.

EssilorLuxottica also continued its long-standing partnership with the European Academy of Optometry and Optics (EAOO) by taking part in its 15th annual conference in Finland, giving updates on Essilor Stellest lenses, and discussing new approaches and advances in clinical refraction.

Coming up, EssilorLuxottica will present new insights on myopia management at the World Congress of Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus in July in Malaysia followed by the International Myopia Conference, which is the largest global scientific gathering on myopia, in September in China.
