EssilorLuxottica’s DbyD Bio-Based Acetate Collection represents a significant step forward for more responsible eyewear, earning Cradle to Cradle Certification at product level.
Driven by a pursuit of transparency and responsible materials, DbyD – an EssilorLuxottica proprietary brand – introduced recycled metals to its portfolio last year and is now focusing on bio acetate to meet the needs of conscious consumers.
The DbyD Bio-Based Acetate Collection exemplifies the brand’s dedication to a responsible mindset without compromising on quality. As an alternative to traditional plastic, it is formulated with 67% bio-based carbon content from plant-based sources, such as cereals, beet and/or sugar cane. The collection is also aligned with EssilorLuxottica’s Eyes on Circularity pillar, within its Eyes on the Planet sustainability program, which focuses on minimizing dependence on fossil-based materials.
Featuring sleek and timeless eyewear crafted to be durable accessories that never go out of style, it is a significant step toward more sustainable eyewear.
It also marks an important milestone achievement, receiving Cradle to Cradle Certification at product level. This globally recognized certification measures sustainability in five key categories, which include material health, product circularity, social fairness, water and soil stewardship, and clean air and climate protection.
