The Group’s brands, Ray-Ban and Oakley won multiple prestigious accolades in different categories at the International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA) and Pentawards 2024.
International Design Excellence Awards
Now in its 44th year, IDEA is organized by the Industrial Designers Society of America and is one of the longest running and most highly prized design awards programs in existence. Originally founded to recognize exceptional achievement in industrial design, the program has since grown to highlight design in many connected disciplines across 20 awards categories. It is open to professional designers (corporate in-house teams, brands, studios, independent consultants, and entrepreneurs) and students.
The Group’s design excellence was highlighted by the ‘Gold’ International Design Excellence Awards for Oakley ARO7 and Ray-Ban | Meta Smart Glasses.
Oakley ARO7: A Gold Award winner at IDEA 2024, Oakley ARO7 is the ultimate choice for performance-driven cyclists. With its integrated Prizm lens and stealth design, ARO7 is engineered for low drag and maximum efficiency, which gives cyclists a competitive edge. At the front of the helmet, the Prizm lens uses a unique magnetic system to stay firmly in place. The system is designed to correctly position the lens for minimal drag, and to allow quick attaching, removal and stowage. The no-tail shell shape encourages varying body positions, making it an excellent fit for multiple use cases.
Ray-Ban | Meta Smart Glasses: Another Gold Award winner at IDEA 2024 is the Ray-Ban | Meta Smart Glasses, which revolutionize the eyewear experience with built-in live streaming and (Meta) Artificial Intelligence. The glasses incorporate unparalleled audio and camera quality and offer design customization. The livestreaming function opens a new level of authenticity as users share live from their point of view. This collection features 21 styles, colors, and lens variations, giving consumers powerful technology without compromising aesthetics and comfort.
Pentawards
Founded in 2007, Pentawards is a leading global platform for packaging design, recognizing excellence in innovation and providing inspiration to the global packaging community. This year, the 18th edition of the Pentawards competition received more than 2,000 entries from 62 countries worldwide. The Pentawards jury comprises over 50 packaging design experts who work with globally renowned companies.
Ray-Ban | Meta: Ray-Ban | Meta won two Gold Pentawards in the ‘Electronic Goods’ and ‘Best Collaboration’ categories for its sustainable packaging. Ray-Ban | Meta Sustainable Packaging sets a new category paradigm through a unique structure and unboxing with sustainably focused materiality*. Following the successful launch of Ray-Ban Stories, the brand saw an opportunity to redefine the expectation of traditional consumer electronic packaging. With Ray-Ban | Meta Sustainable Packaging, a heightened emphasis was placed on sustainability, user experience, and overall material reduction, resulting in a design that sets a new standard for pragmatic elegance. Its design approach breaks the mold of today’s traditional rigid-box packaging, creating an elegant unboxing with a magical reveal of the product. It draws inspiration from the iconic and recognizable Ray-Ban packaging design yet is slightly smaller to reduce materials and save space on transportation. It is entirely made with sustainably sourced, FSC-certified paper, and no plastic is involved. The outer pack is all about minimalism, simplicity and sustainability. It has been designed with the commitment of completely eliminating the use of single-use plastic in its packaging. The box, made entirely of responsibly sourced FSC-certified paper, not only protects the product but also serves multiple purposes. For example, it can be used as both a lens-cleaning pad holder and a note container, thus eliminating the need for additional materials.
* Materiality is the evaluation and prioritization of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) factors that significantly impact a company
